Earlier this week, Verizon started pushing out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and the Droid RAZR MAXX HD. In true Verizon fashion though, the updates started to roll out relatively slowly. Now though, it appears that the Jelly Bean updates for Motorola’s two new RAZR devices are rolling out to everybody.

Several tipsters have informed us that their Droid RAZR HD or Droid RAZR MAXX HD has been upgraded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. In addition, our Droid RAZR HD has also been upgraded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean today which should mean that Verizon is pushing the update to all users starting today.

The update will show up in a prompt for Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD owners. The prompt will then initiate a download and installation process that should take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Once that is done, users will be able to use Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on their Droid RAZR HD or Droid RAZR MAXX HD.

Those who aren’t greeted with a prompt will want to go into the device Settings, into the About section and then Check for an update. The software should pop up as being available and the installation process will then begin.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is going to be a big improvement over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the previous version of Android on these two devices. Android 4.1 brings quite a few new features to the table including improved Notifications, updated suite of Google applications, better Browser and Calendar, and a smoother, faster UI and more. It’s an operating system that figures to make both the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD better for current owners and more attractive to prospective buyers looking for a new smartphone.

Of course, it’s not Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Android, but that update will almost definitely be coming to these devices down the road. Exactly when though remains to be seen.
