BlackBerry 10 update page launched at same time

Research in Motion has updated BlackBerry Messenger to include free Wi-Fi calling between BBM users. BBM 7.0 with BBM Voice allows its users to make calls without using the cell network, such as in signal blackspots, and also lets users still send messages to one another while in the middle of the call, as well as other updates to the app.

BBM will now notify users if there are updates available while using the app, adds in BlackBerry ID synchronization of profiles and contacts, and adds 16 more emoticons. Though the BlackBerry 6 OS and higher app been announced as released today, RIM warns that it can take up to 24 hours for the app to appear on the App World in all markets.

The new Messenger arrives at the same time as an official RIM webpage for BlackBerry 10 updates, ahead of its January 30th launch. While listing various highlights of the new mobile OS, it gives very little away in terms of hardware details, except for a teasing image at the top.
